Fuel mix disclosure

THE FUEL WE SUPPLY.

This is our fuel mix disclosure, published as required by the Electricity (Fuel Mix Disclosure) Regulations 2005. It sets out the fuel sources and environmental impact of the total electricity purchased for supply by UC Energy Ltd, UrbanChain's licensed supply company, between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, with a breakdown for each of our products and the UK average for comparison. The renewable share is based on an annual volume match of Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) to the electricity we supplied.

Product information

  • UrbanChain REGO product is 100% backed by UK wind farms.
  • All other UrbanChain products are backed by a combination of wind, solar, hydro and biomass.
CO₂ emissions (g/kWh)
The weighted average of the carbon dioxide emitted in the production of electricity from each fuel source.
Radioactive waste (g/kWh)
The radioactive waste, being fuel burnt in the reactor to be subsequently discharged as spent fuel.

UK average figures and the environmental impact factors are provided by the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ).

Beyond compliance

BEYOND ANNUAL COMPLIANCE.

Fuel mix disclosure is a simple annual compliance exercise. UrbanChain goes beyond it and provides traceability: we match you with nearby generators every half hour, so you always know where your energy comes from.

  1. Generate

    Local renewable sources

Your electricity comes straight from local renewable sources. We match you with nearby generators every half hour, so you always know where your energy comes from.

  2. Match

    Balancing supply and demand

Our AI-driven technology balances price with supply, making sure you get 100% renewable energy at competitive rates, even when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing.

Grid top-upIf we can't get enough power from our generators to meet a customer's needs, we buy the extra from the grid and match it with REGOs.

  3. Deliver

    Why local matters

By keeping it local, we cut transmission losses and support community energy projects. That makes the system more efficient and more resilient, and keeps more value in your area.

Because it's all on our platform, you can see when it was generated, who by, and its carbon impact, all in real time.

To report your organisation's Scope 2 emissions as zero, you need to be sure about the source of the electricity your supplier provides.

UrbanChain enables local, traceable renewable markets. Organisations can source clean electricity directly from generators, matched by time and location, with every unit underpinned by transparent, auditable data. This approach aligns closely with GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance, which places increasing emphasis on credible tracking and evidence of renewable electricity use.

This level of granularity provides

  1. 01More accurate Scope 2 reporting
  2. 02Robust evidence to support ESG claims and reduce greenwashing risk
  3. 03A clearer route to compliance as UK energy and building regulations tighten

From our team

EVIDENCE BEHIND EVERY CLAIM.

Businesses don't just want renewable energy. They want to understand it. Who generated it, when, and how it fits into their carbon reporting. That visibility is becoming essential, and it's a key differentiator in an ESG-led market.

This agreement strengthens the fundamentals of our market. Bringing additional renewable volume into operation improves how we balance supply and demand across the system and increases our flexibility to optimise where and when power is used. That is critical for customers who require clean energy that is traceable and grounded in real assets.
