Welcome to our meet the team content series where we find out more about the people, we like to call them ‘UrbanChainers’, driving UrbanChain forward.
Please tell us about your role at UrbanChain…
I am a Junior Data Scientist at UrbanChain. Currently, my role is based around bringing automation in operational processes to facilitate the work carried out across the company.
Tell us about you, where you grew up, education, previous work experience…
I studied a range of subjects throughout my academic career; my Bachelor’s was in Economics and Philosophy and my Master’s was in Data Analytics. In between these two, I worked as a Data Analyst for an energy company for just over a year.
What are your passions, interests and hobbies outside of work?
I have standard introverted hobbies; video games, reading and my cat. I will read anything and everything if it is interesting enough. I took up indoor gardening during the pandemic as well and my plants seem to be doing (surprisingly) well.
What are your strengths as a thinker and what are you best at?
My background in philosophy has instilled in me a deep curiosity and a willingness to challenge assumptions. I tend to question everything and think outside the box, which has proven to be a valuable asset in my work. When I come across a challenge, I tend to hyper focus until it’s solved.
What’s it like working at a disruptive technology company?
It is a very new and enlightening experience for me! Everyone is driven to ensure the company’s success, and this creates a great synergistic atmosphere. What I find particularly rewarding is the company’s mission to change the energy market in a positive way.
What does company culture mean to you?
To me, company culture is all about the values and principles that guide how a company operates. A positive culture is one that fosters collaboration, creativity, and mutual respect. One of the most important aspects of company culture, in my opinion, is having a working space that allows for free-flowing ideas and open communication.
Describe UrbanChain’s company culture…
At UrbanChain, the company culture is characterised by collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to self-development. I’m learning from colleagues with expertise in energy and those with a technological background, and this cross-disciplinary collaboration has been incredibly rewarding.
What personal values do you bring to UrbanChain?
I believe that trustworthiness, hard work, and dependability are essential values for success in any workplace, and I strive to embody these values every day.
Ultimately, I am motivated by UrbanChain’s commitment to creating positive social and environmental change, and I share the company’s vision of making a meaningful impact on the world.
